Welcome to Kylie Bertucci's International Stampin' Up! Blog Hop for December. Our theme is Gratitude & Thankfulness. I am blessed in many ways and one that I am very thankful for is the friendships I have made through Stampin' Up! It really has expanded my world.
I created my card using shaving cream. Yes, a cheap can of men's white foamy shaving cream will make hundreds of cards. Many years ago I took a Stampin' Up! class and we used the shaving cream technique. I still remember how much fun it was! Although this is old school, I hope I put a modern spin on the card.
I used 3 re-inkers with several drops each onto the shaving cream: Bermuda Bay, Lemon Lime Twist and Daffodil Delight. Swirl the colors through the shaving cream with a pallete knife or toothpick. Then using the brick stencil from the Pattern Party Decorative Masks, I swiped diagonally with the colored shaving cream on thick Whisper White. Almost like frosting a cake.
Let it dry and you have the most beautiful marble effect. Think of all the variation of colors you could create with Stampin' Up! re-inkers!
Here is another couple of cards made the same way, but I used the Nature's Roots Framelits. I ran the tree through the Big Shot with thick card stock and used the negative as a stencil. In case of the leaf, I ran it through Big Shot three times to create the negative stencil. I love the CAS (clean and simple) look of the cards with lots of white space.

Love your brick stencil/shaving cream technique!!! You've got my vote!! If I understand your directions correctly, you placed the stencil on your card stock, stirred your reinkers into the shaving cream, picked up some shaving cream with your palette knife and swiped it across the stencil. Am I correct??
ReplyDeleteYes. Just run a toothpick through the shaving cream. Like marbling cake. You don’t want it blended too much. I did about 4 blogs with the cardstock I made with this technique. Wipe the stencil with the shaving cream like frosting a cake! Glad you liked it❤️

I have a masculine card to make today so the brick stencil will make a wonderful back ground and it will be such fun to use your shaving cream technique with some masculine reinker colors. Since I just love the beautiful color combo you used, I plan to use those pretty colors on a get well card I'm making for a lady ... it will certainly help to brighten her day.
