I am very happy to be submitting a card for the As You See It Challenge #191, a sketch challenge:
I created this bokeh background for a new home card I had in mind for a family member who has just relocated to Florida from snowy Buffalo! I used 3 Stampin' Up! colors: Daffodil Delight, Grapefruit Grove and Lovely Lipstick and ink-blended them with cut Stampin' sponges onto a A2 size of Whisper White Thick cardstock.
Using a stencil I made with the Balloon Punch and a piece of window sheet, I sponge daubed Whisper White Craft Ink to give the bokek effect:
"In photography, bokeh (/ˈboʊkeɪ/ BOH-kay; Japanese: [boke]) is the aesthetic quality of the blur produced in the out-of-focus parts of an image produced by a lens. Bokeh has been defined as "the way the lens renders out-of-focus points of light".
It cut the frame with the Rectangle Stitched Framelits which are so great because the stitches are on both sides of the cut. I glued the frame to the A2 card base and popped up the center with fun foam to keep a perfectly even layer when mailed. The sentiment is from the "At Home with You" stamp set heat embossed with white unto Basic Black card stock.
I finished with a couple of the same balloons punched out of vellum and added the sentiments. This gives you a place to adhere the balloons for glue shows through vellum. And lastly some epoxy hearts colored with Dark Poppy Parade Stamp 'n Blend.
"
The sentiment inside the card says "Enjoy!" from the "Dear Doily" Stamp set.
I hope they like their card and if you would like to recreate - click below to purchase directly from my online store:

Welcome
I am a wife of 48 years married to my best friend, Mike. He has always been my biggest supporter. We have 3 beautiful daughters and 2 wonderful grandchildren. Also, I am a college graduate, still working full time, and trying to squeeze in every crafting moment possible. Working with my hands, whether it is papercrafting, stamping, painting, cross-stitching, zentangling or quilting - brings joy to my life. I love color in all its various forms.

Anita, this is fabulous! I love those bright colours and I'm a sucker for inky, spongy, smooshy backgrounds. Using the balloon shapes for the white is a great twist on the circles that people usually use and fits so well with those vellum balloons. Thank you for joining in with us at As You See It challenge this week.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jan! Bokeh is so fun to do and lots of creative options, too. I hope to play along more.
