This past weekend I had a chance to create a card for the CAS January 2019 Stencil challenge. The challenge is below:
Sponging through a stencil in a CAS "Clean and Simple" style which mean minimal embellishments and leave white space. This isn't always easy, at least for me, for sometimes I don't know when to quit.
The card I made is a 5" X 5" cut from Whisper White Thick. The kittens in the pot were each stamped 3X (once on the card, once on masking paper and once on a scrap piece of white) all with Memento Black Ink, the preferred ink for alcohol markers. I cut out the 3 masks and put the masks over the kittens on the card front.
Next, I sponged the brick stencil from the Pattern Party Decorative Masks (set of 4 different stencils) with a 1/6 portion of a Stampin' Sponge with Sahara Sand ink fading off the top left hand corner. The "floor" was sponged with Sahara Sand, as well, with it slightly darker for shadows. I drew a horizontal line between the brick wall and the floor with the Black Stampin' Write Marker.
The kittens and pot were colored with Stampin 'N Blends (alcohol markers) with the colors listed below. I then fussy cut the kittens and pots out cutting off the flowers. They were placed over each kitten on the card front and popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals. The floral images in the back were left black & white so that the kittens were "spotlighted".
The sentiment is from the "Itty Bitty Greetings" Stamp set.
A matching 5" X 5" envelope can easily be made with the Envelope Punch Board.
I made a second card which doesn't really fit the CAS Challenge rules for white space but I was very happy the way it came out!
I colored in the flowers with various Stampin' N Blends and use DSP wood paper for the floor. I did sponge Early Espresso under the pots to give a shadow. The whole top half is popped up off of the floor. The colors are a bit more vibrant and no white space.
I want to give credit to Debrabella from Stampingbella for her inspiration for this card.

Welcome
I am a wife of 48 years married to my best friend, Mike. He has always been my biggest supporter. We have 3 beautiful daughters and 2 wonderful grandchildren. Also, I am a college graduate, still working full time, and trying to squeeze in every crafting moment possible. Working with my hands, whether it is papercrafting, stamping, painting, cross-stitching, zentangling or quilting - brings joy to my life. I love color in all its various forms.
