TGIF Challenges 193 - Sweet Friend

I seem to be on a roll working on challenges! They really are a lot of fun and inspiring in new ways you would not normally create. This was the first challenge for 2019 for the TGIF Challenges:
Fun trio of colors! My design was inspired by a class I watched taught by Therese Calvird. She used stamps from a different stamp company, but I thought the layout was perfect for the "Well Written Framelit" set which is becoming a new personal favorite. One of my favorite sayings for a card is "Sweet Friend" and I was able to create that with framelit and a new stamp set.

After I adhered a full adhesive sheet on the back of Smoky Slate Stampin' Up paper, I used the framelit of the word "friend" and die cut it many times with the Big Shot (saving all the diecuts and the dot on the "i" too). Removing the release paper off the back of each "friend" word, and then using a T-square ruler to be sure I was lining the word "friend" evenly and straight, I adhered them down to the front of a Smoky Slate A2 card base, letting some of the word hang off the front. When the front was full, I snipped off the bits hanging over by turning the card to the back and cutting with paper snips.
The floral image was created by die cutting various leaves, flowers and buds out of both card stock and watercolor paper. I colored the watercolor bits with a wet-on-wet technique and Melon Mambo and Lemon Lime Twist re-inkers. I played around with all the pieces until I was happy with the layout and using both Tombow liquid adhesive and Stampin' Dimensionals glued them down. The center of the flower is a silver Clear Faceted Gem.

The flag was punch with the Banner Triple Punch after I stamped just the word "Sweet" from the new "Sweetest Thing" stamp set available in the 2019 Occasions catalog.
I hope you enjoyed this card and please click on the pictures below to shop for any of these (or any other Stampin' Up! items) from my on-line store:
