NC Demos March 2019 Blog Hop

Welcome friends! Thanks for stopping by to check out Stampin' Up!'s North Carolina Demos Blog Hop for March 2019. Our theme is "Cute Critters"! Stampin' Up! has many cutie patoodie critters, but since we are dog lovers in our family, I choose "Bella and Friends" to create a card.
I took a few pictures of the steps I took to create the center sky image. First, I stamped Bella and her bird friend on Shimmery White with Memento Black ink and colored with Stamp 'N Blends. Next, I created a mask, by stamping the same design and fussy cut it out and paste over the images to cover completely. Here is the image with the mask:
With Coastal Cabana and my favorite Stampin' Sponges, I ink blended in a circular motion the entire paper. The more you use your sponges, the better they work. Good inky sponges will blend beautifully.
Once I was happy with the depth of color, I used the cloud stencil from the Pattern Party Decorative Masks to create the clouds. I used a damp (with water) blue shop towel and dabbed gently in the cloud. Be gentle, for the paper will pill if you rush it. It leaves soft pretty clouds.

Next, to create a scene I masked the grass area and ink blended Coastal Cabana and Daffodil Delight to create a green. I did this so that the grass would have the same tones as the sky background. The grass blades are from the "Sheltering Tree" stamp set with Granny Apple Green.
I added Daffodil Delight with some masking tape to create sun rays. A bit subtle but they are there.
The front of the card was finished using the "Rectangle Stitched Framelits" on each layer and stamped with a sentiment from "Bella and Friends". The corrugated heart is a fun accessory which comes in a pack with ovals and tags. The red heart was punched out from the "Dog Builder Punch" painted with "Wink of Stella" for some shine.
The inside of the card has another Bella, colored and fussy cut. This sentiment is from "Sheltering Tree" stamp set. The matching envelope (Stampin' Up!'s envelopes are so soft and smooth) was stamped using the Stamparatus so I could evenly move the platform plate down and have perfectly placed images.
I hope you've enjoyed this Cute Critter card and continue along with the hop. I am sure you will see some inspiration for cute critter cards!

  6. Anita, you covered all the bases, with different techniques, masking, sponging, and using those forgotten stencils that seem to hide in my cupboard. And great way to use the stamperatus too! Really cute card.
