Hi all! Welcome to my blog post for the CAS (Clean and Simple) Stencil Challenge for April 2019:
I planned to make a card for a special nephew who just purchased his first condo! My sister sent me pictures, so I tried to take it literally and recreate his door. His home is very streamlined and modern with a beautiful blue for his front door and kitchen cupboards. I noticed shiplap, too.
Using the "At Home With You" stamp set I stamped on "Watercolor" paper with Memento Black Ink and quickly sprinkled with "Clear Emboss Powder" and heat set. I stamped the #1 (his address) on the door from the "Make A Difference" stamp with Versamark and heat set with "Gold Emboss Powder". It's always nice to personalize a card.
Next, I used the brick stencil from the "Pattern Party Decorative Masks" and applied "Embossing Paste" with a palette knife and let dry overnight. I forgot to tape the paper down so I used Clear Acrylic Blocks on top of the door to keep the paper flat while the paste dried.
I water-colored the door with a Silver water-color brush and Blueberry Bushel re-inkers with a wet-on-wet technique. I watered down this re-inker to a very pale blue for the windows.
I also colored the gold foot plate, the window panes and the door handle/key slot with "Vegas Gold Shimmer Paint" (no longer available, sorry). You could use any gold paint you have in your stash.
Once the embossing paste was dried, again with a wet-on-wet technique, I colored the bricks randomly with "Smoky Slate" and "Basic Grey" re-inkers. Once dry, I ran it through the Big Shot with the "Rectangle Stitched Framelits". The plate under the door was cut from "Gold Foil Paper" using the "At Home Framelits" dies.
I ran "Whisper White Thick" through the "Corrugated Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder" to mimic the shiplap and to have white space.
The sentiments are stamped from the "At Home With You". The inside sentiment is from both the "At Home With You" set and the "Balloon Celebration" set, all gold-embossed. I did stamp, color and die cut the flowers from the "At Home With You" set for the inside.
All adhesive work was done with Tombow Liquid Adhesive.
I hope my nephew enjoys his card and his new home!

Welcome

I am a wife of 48 years married to my best friend, Mike. He has always been my biggest supporter. We have 3 beautiful daughters and 2 wonderful grandchildren. Also, I am a college graduate, still working full time, and trying to squeeze in every crafting moment possible. Working with my hands, whether it is papercrafting, stamping, painting, cross-stitching, zentangling or quilting - brings joy to my life. I love color in all its various forms.
