NC Demos April Blog Hop

Welcome to the North Carolina Stampin' Up! Demos Blog Hop for April 2019. This hop is always held on the last Sunday of the month and has a fun theme. Here is our challenge for this month:

"April is the perfect time to plan cards, gifts and decor for all the Spring occasions from Mother's & Father's Day to Memorial and Flag Day. It's also time to get ready for graduations, baby showers and weddings.

So, pick your favorite Spring holiday or occasion and share a project from a card to a shadowbox or a gift bag to a gift card holder or anything in between!"
I decided to create a "Mom" card.

If you follow my blog, you know I am a fan of "Online Card Classes" the brain child of Kristina Werner and Jennifer McGuire. I have recently watched "Stretch Your Dies" and my card for this blog was inspired by Julie Ebersole's "Tuck & Fold" design. It begins with a piece of Whisper White Thick card stock cut at 4 1/2" X 11" and scored at 3 1/2" and 8 1/8".
The trick is to lay your die cuts in a straight line on the front flap (be sure it will be the correct side up) and lay your cutting plate just above the edge of the bottom. This way your cutting plate does not cover the entire framelits and the letters will not cut all the way through. This will create a "hinged" word (or image). I used the now retiring, Large Letter Framelits.
Once folded, the top part will simply slip behind the letters. So that the letters stand out more I wanted to use gold paper. To do this I placed some Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets behind a sheet of the Gold Fold Sheets and ran the same Large Letter Framelits "MOM" through the Big Shot. Simply pull off the adhesive sheets and lay the letters on top of the hinged white die cuts.
In order to create the CAS (Clean and Simple) top half, I stamped several images with the Swirly Bird stamp set onto masking paper (from Inkadinkadoo) on the white side. This way I could stamp the swirly images first and then place the masks over those images. Next I could stamp the leaves, from the Pop of Petals Stamp set, so they then appear behind the swirly images. Flirty Flamingo and Soft Sea Foam Green were my chosen colors.
The sentiment from the Pop of Petals stamp set was white heat embossed on Basic Black card stock and adhered with Tombow Liquid Adhesive, only where the banner sentiment meets the gold letters. A few gold metallic Pearls were added to finish the front.

The inside sentiment is from the Tropical Chic stamp set:
Lastly, I created a 5" X 5" envelope from Flirty Flamingo card stock using the Envelope Punch Board. It's really easy to make your own envelope and I used Tear & Tape adhesive for a good secure closing. I leave the release tape on the top flap until ready to mail. The swirly images were stamped on the left side with Flirty Flamingo ink.
I hope you enjoyed this card and hop along to visit all the amazing talented Stampin' Up! Demos on this fun hop today. Click on the "Next Blog" button below to go directly to Tina Lesson's creative work!

  7. I know! I just wish they had been a tiny bit smaller so 5 letters would fit on an A2 card comfortably. Thanks!
