TGIFC#205 meets Fab Friday 160

Welcome to my blog for TGIFC#205 for balloons and Fab Friday #160 for 4 specific Stampin' Up! colors:

I recently watched Online Card Classes Rainbow Makers and was inspired by Julie Ebersole's "Abstract Direct to Paper" technique. It was a simple, but creative technique. You simply run the edge of your ink pad onto a piece of card stock. I used Whisper White with the 4 colors from the challenge:

It looks like a hot mess, but it's perfect for die cuts! I ran the "Celebrate" thinlit through the Big Shot using this abstract piece of card stock. Than I ran the same die cut through 3 times with Basic Black card stock. I stacked all 4 pieces together using spray adhesive. Makes a great thick chipboard piece.
To put the card together, I ran Whisper White through the "Polka Dot Basic Embossing Folder" in the Big Shot. The circles mimic the balloon shapes. The embossed piece was punched in the 2 bottom corners with the "Detailed Trio Punch" to round the corners.
The balloons are punch from the challenge colors with the "Balloon Bouquet Punch". Then they were gold embossed using the dotted stamp from the "Balloon Celebration" stamp set.
I tied a piece of gold metallic thread to each balloon and ran it behind the black flag with the sentiment. They are popped up with "Stampin' Dimensionals".
The card base is A2 size cut from Lemon Lime Twist card stock and the bottom corners were rounded also. The inside is from the "Happy Birthday Gorgeous" set and a few more pieces cut from our abstract piece.

If you like this card, I will be posting a 2nd card I made with this same paper in a few days!

  1. So very cool, Anita! Love that background sheet you created your sentiment from and other details - totally have to try that! I also love the touch of gold on your balloons, another great idea! Thanks so much for playing at Fab Friday!
