Welcome to my blog post for the Clean and Simple Watercolor Challenge May 2019-"For a Child":
I was working with freezer paper earlier this month:
and wanted to continue using this technique. I punched 3 balloons out of kitchen freezer paper using the Balloon Bouquet Punch. Then I ironed them onto a piece of Stampin' Up! watercolor paper with the shiny side down. To do this, use a warm, dry iron and place a piece of copy paper over the watercolor paper to keep the card clean.
Next, I taped the piece to a board using Delicate Painters Tape (yellow) (in the paint dept. at Lowe's Hardware). To watercolor, the front of the card was dampened with a large brush and clean water. Next using reinkers - Pool Party, Coastal Cabana and Bermuda Bay drop in with a wet watercolor brush and let blend - right over the freezer paper balloons. Let dry thoroughly and before removing from the board, splatter with watered down Smoky Slate reinker.
To remove the freezer paper, gently heat with the heat tool and remove gently. If any color bled underneath simply use a white gel pen and color in. I use the Black Stamp 'N Write marker and drew in the strings for the balloons. The bows were cut from the Whisper White card stock with an Apron Builder Framelit. The word "Happy" was die cut 3 times the same way using the Well Written Framelit set and glued together with Tombow Liquid Adhesive.
I covered the front of both the 3 bows and the word "happy" with Tombow and then sprinkled with Dazzling Diamonds Stampin' Glitter. I also dotted glue here and there over the front of the card and sprinkled with the same glittered. Who doesn't love some bling? Hard to pick up in the picture, but the card is really sparkly.
The inside is a simple sentiment with the Perennial Birthday stamp set and the balloons stamp from the Little Elephant set.
I believe this card would be good for any child, boy or girl. Blue is universal!

I am a wife of 48 years married to my best friend, Mike. He has always been my biggest supporter. We have 3 beautiful daughters and 2 wonderful grandchildren. Also, I am a college graduate, still working full time, and trying to squeeze in every crafting moment possible. Working with my hands, whether it is papercrafting, stamping, painting, cross-stitching, zentangling or quilting - brings joy to my life. I love color in all its various forms.
