Timeless Textures for 3 Challenges!

Welcome friends! Did you ever just love a color combination? And have so many ideas to use them that you don't know where to start? That is how I felt about these 3 Stampin' Up! colors from the As You See It #199 Challenge! Challenges are a great way to focus your ideas and develop a good, clean design.

My first thought for this challenge with these beautiful colors was to create a baby card and that idea fit perfectly with the Inspire Create #042 Challenge:
And then I saw the layout for Sunday Stamps Challenge #204 and I had my card design using all 3 challenges!
The beginning of this card started with an image (the floral image on the bottom right) from the Timeless Textures stamp set, soon to be retired.

I began with a full sheet of Shimmery White card stock which is a good choice for watercoloring techniques. I stamped the floral image multiple times (one row at a time) with Versamark ink and sprinkled with White Stampin' Emboss Powder. When the full sheet was complete I hit it with Stampin' Up!'s heat tool using the second setting.

Once cooled, I taped the sheet to an acrylic board with yellow painter's tape (from Lowe's). To "ink smoosh" I pulled out 3 saved plastic packaging from various purchases. I never throw these out for they are perfect for many techniques including today's ink smooshing. I pressed the entire ink pad down onto the plastic packaging and then gave it a quick spray with a Stampin' Spritzer filled with water.

I pressed each sheet (bend sheet and only press parts), one at a time, to the card stock taped on the board to place random color throughout. If you want the color to blend more, just spritz a little water directly to the card stock or more water on the plastic sheet. Either way, stop when you are happy with the color and let dry completely. I leave mine taped down at least overnight. Once I remove it, I keep it under under books or blocks to flatten.
I almost never make just one of anything! I like to try different colors and in this case, I actually made 2 full sheets at one time with 2 different sets of colors. More blog posts to follow!
To create the card, I cut the circle with the largest Layering Circle Framelit with the Big Shot. I ran a 3 1/4" X 4 1/4" piece of Whisper White Thick card stock through the Tufted Dynamic Embossing Folder again with the Big Shot. I ran a bit of Power Pink around the edges with my Stampin' Sponges.

I use Tombow Liquid Adhesive for all gluing on this card to allow for a bit of "wriggle room" before it dries. The circle was adhered to the embossed piece and the overhang was trimmed. I like to keep the panel perfectly flat for mailing and a solid piece of Fun Foam (from Amazon) was adhered behind the embossed piece.
The sentiment dies cuts are from the Well Written Framelit set, cut 3 times each. One from Powder Pink card stock as the drop shadow and twice from Lovely Lipstick card stock. The butterflies were punched out with the Butterfly Duet Punch from Pineapple Punch 6 X 6 Designer Series Paper. A quick coat of Wink of Stella on the butterflies and sentiment gives a nice bit of shine.
A few Pearl Basic Jewels finished off the butterflies. The inside is a simple sentiment from the Little Elephant stamp set:

I hope you give this technique a try - think of the design and color possibilities!
