Hi all - just a quick post to show my card submittal(s) for the Clean and Simple Watercolor Challenge for June 2019, "Something Blue":
I don't know why I thought of Christmas when I saw this challenge, but I immediately thought of my new Christmas stamp set, Lots of Cheer. Also, I've been wanting to try the new sparkle embossing powders: Shimmer White and Shimmer Black. So I made 2 cards, both on the new Fluid 100 Watercolor paper from Stampin' Up!, one with the white shimmer and one with the black using the ornament image:
After the embossing was completed and cooled both cards were taped to a board. Next they were watercolored using a wet-on-wet technique. To do this, wet the paper first, just where you want the color to flow. Next drop in Stampin' Up! ink refill which has been watered down a bit. This prevents hard drops of color which can't be moved since these are not true watercolors.
Both cards were splattered with Craft White Ink Refill, also watered down, using a paint brush to splatter "snow". They were left to dry overnight and then finished with some die cutting and layering onto fun foam (Amazon) for a smooth, clean look.
The sentiments were also heat embossed with the sparkle embossing powder. It's not picking up too well in the pictures, but in real life they are really sparkly! I am really loving the new watercolor paper and embossing powders!
It's fun to participate in these challenges and get your Christmas cards completed slowly over the year, too.

Welcome
I am a wife of 48 years married to my best friend, Mike. He has always been my biggest supporter. We have 3 beautiful daughters and 2 wonderful grandchildren. Also, I am a college graduate, still working full time, and trying to squeeze in every crafting moment possible. Working with my hands, whether it is papercrafting, stamping, painting, cross-stitching, zentangling or quilting - brings joy to my life. I love color in all its various forms.
