Welcome friends to my July 2019 blog post for Kylie Bertucci's Training Blog Hop. Kylie had no theme this month which gave me an opportunity to use one of my new favorite stamp sets, Birthday Goodness. My husband and I are fans of watching shows such as "Best Baker in America" & "The Great British Baking Show". They always have a challenge to make macarons, so when I saw this stamp set, I knew it would be in my first purchase from the new catalog. Who doesn't love donuts and macarons?
This month I used the Hand Stamped Sentiments Color Challenge for the card:
This was a really fun card to create in steps. Often, I just stamp a number of backgrounds, such as the Buffalo Check, in various colors and have them on hand. I write the colors used on the back and I did have a Mint Macaron already stamped and I was really happy with this for the background.
I stamped the image with Stazon Black Ink on Fluid 100 Watercolor paper. I am really enjoying this new watercolor paper. It has a soft cottony texture and handles both re-inkers and watercolor powders really well. I always test the colors on a strip of the watercolor paper that I will be using, so I can see how it reacts with water. I generally use these small trays as my palette so I can water down the ink to make it various shades of color.
The image was cut to fit the center of the card and edges were run through the Big Shot with the cross stitch pattern strip from the Stitched Labels Framelits Dies (Calypso Coral card stock). It made the perfect edges to make the image pop.
The sentiment is from the same stamp set and white heat embossed on Basic Black card stock. Although hard to see in the picture, the flag end were created using a small Stitched Rectangle Die at an angle. The card was finished with a few Calypso Coral Happiness Blooms Enamel Dots.
I hope you have enjoyed this card and please continue with the blog hop following the links below, you won't be disappointed!
