Addicted to CAS Challenge #169 - Creature with Waffle Flower

Today's blog is my Clean & Simple "creature" card for the "Addicted to CAS" Code Word challenge:
I recently received the Waffle Flower Gym Rat stamp set and I love these little hamster guys/girls at the gym! The secret is to the challenge is to try and keep it Clean and Simple. Harder than you might think.
I made 2 cards in all, but one has a few more embellishments, so I am submitting only one on the challenge post. To create the backgrounds, using a foam applicator tool, Distress Ink Squeezed Lemonade and My Favorite Things Stencils (one for each card), Radiating Rays and Sun Rays, I gently ink-blended sun rays onto Neenah White 110 lb. card stock. Nice and sturdy. This has to be one of my most favorite ways to create a background! Just a little something, something behind the image.
The little gym rats were stamped with Memento Black Ink, an alcohol-friendly ink, and then colored with my Spectrum Noir markers. There are a couple flourescent colors in the set and I thought they'd be fun for gym outfits! I used the matching die cuts with my Big Shot to cut out the images.

As usual, I stamped, colored and die cut a whole ton of these images. They are so cool - a hamster wheel, a treadmill, a radio, dumbell, step bench, spotlight, hamster cage and all kinds of small background stamps - stars, lightning bolts and dotted triangles.

Sitting with my hubby at night and watching TV gives me a lot of coloring time! I keep them in a small container and when I need to make a card, most of the work is already done!

The rest of the card is quite simple. I used the largest from the Jillian Vance's Basic Rectangle Backdrop to cut the sun ray backgrounds into a nice, clean edged rectangle.
The panel was glued down with Tombow Liquid Adhesive and the center "creatures" were popped up with foam dimensionals.

Here are the insides:

I have one guy card and one girl card...for my favorite gym rats! Thanks for stopping by! Want to recreate or CASE (copy and share everything)?...links to the products I used (or very similar) are below:
