Taylored Expressions January Challenge #2

Can you believe it is almost the end of January? How time flies. This month I had a weekend in Charlotte to see the Oprah 2020 Vision Tour and last weekend I had a painting retreat with my local Chapter of the Society of Decorative Painters. Chris Haughey of Cupboard Distributing was our teacher and lots of fun!

But let me tell you about this very special card. A bit snarky, the Grumplings just are, but it would be great for just the right person. I created it for the January #TEMakerchallenge using round masking and grey.

I believe I mentioned this in a previous blog, but these Taylored Expression Masking Stencils as so cool to work with positive, negative or in between!
I use a bit of repositionable adhesive to hold the large circle mask onto a piece of 4" X 5 1/4" piece of Bristol Smooth card stock. Next using Wendy Vecchi's Mark Art Station I placed the Studio Katia brick stencil at an angle over the Bristol Smooth card stock. The magnets that come with the Make Art Station holds it all perfectly. Simple ink blending with Scrapbook.com's domed ink blending tool and Simon Hurley's Woof!:
The little raccoon was colored with Kuretake Zigs Real Color Brush Markers and then cut with the coordinating die. He was popped with the foam tape. The sentiment from the Mr. & Mrs. Grumplings set was stamped with Versafine Onyx Black Ink. The inside is from Waffle Flower's Congrats stamp set.

Here are the 2 cards I made with Mr & Mrs. Grumplings Wedding set from Taylored Expressions:

The Card Concept 127 - The Cozy Cabin

Hello crafty friends! Welcome to The Card Concept 127 and here is the inspiration picture:
I am going to have to say that this card is #3 in the Styles Defined:

3. Shabby Chic and Vintage

Definition:
  • the use of used, worn or inexpensive components to make stylish goods
  • distressed or sponged edges
  • old feel-antiqued
  • lots of embellishments
  • ribbons or lace
  • lots of layers

I stamped MFT's Wood Plank background stamp with Scrapbook.com's Charcoal Hybrid Ink for the background. The wreath is from Sunny Studio's Snowflake Circle Frame and I die cut lots of snowflakes out of Neenah Classic Crest 80 lb. white card stock and also from a piece of black and white gingham I had on my desk from a previous card. I just keep layering them up using Gina K Connect Glue. Here is my WIP (Work in Progress), also known as a messy desk!
I had a little wooden moose from the Pink and Main Christmas Card Kit and I thought it was just perfect for this wreath! I have the Star Confetti Fancy Cover Die from Hero Arts and I ran it also through white for lots of tiny stars.
Layered all the bits and added Sparkling Clear Jewels from Pretty Pink Posh. I always wish I could capture the sparkle in a card with a photo, but haven't been able to perfect that yet. I'll keep working on it! I left the inside blank for just that special occasion when I will need this card and add it at that time.

Waffle Flower for CAS Christmas Tags

Hi all! Welcome to my post for January 2020 for 2 challenges combined: CAS Christmas Challenge and Waffle Flower Challenge #2:

The theme is a winter challenge using a tag. I used Waffle Flower's Winter Hamsters Bundle, Waffle Flowers' Dotted Tag Dies, Jillian Vance's Snowflakes, MFT's Magical Friends and MFT's More Essential Sentiments to create this card. How cute are these little guys? The dies cut out 3 images at once.

I kept it clean and simple with Neenah Classic Crest 110 lb. card stock for the card base and the snowflakes. I really enjoy a white on white card.

The hamsters were stamped with Scrapbook.com Hybrid Black ink and water colored with my Kuretake Zigs. I then used the matching die cuts and my Big Shot to cut them out. The outside sentiment and snowflakes were stamped with Scrapbook.com's Mermaid Hybrid ink
The inside sentiment is simple black stamping but I thought it went so well with the 2 little hamsters dancing!
The tag was popped up with Fun Foam and I use a liquid adhesive to adhere the images and the tag.

I hope you enjoyed this card...I am thinking of using it for my Valentine's Day card for my hubby. We don't have a lot of snow here in North Carolina, but I think he'll like it anyway! Thanks for visiting and here are all the links if you'd like to try out these fun products:

CAS Watercolor Challenge with Jillian Vance

Welcome friends to my post for CAS Watercolour Challenge, Cool Colors:
This will be a quick post for I simply used some water coloring from my stash which happen to be the perfect colors! Don't you love when you can use something on your desk and create a card? I am not sure what brand of watercolors I used, but I know I did use table salt on the water coloring when just drying. You can see the star bursts in the pictures created with the salt.
I used my Jillian Vance Wildflower Die Set to cut out the images and I used every last little bit of this paper. I love blues and greens together:
The white background is Taylored Expressions Bead Board Embossing Folder with Neenah White 80 lb. card stock. The clean lines are a perfect background.
The sentiments came from the Birthday Greetings stamp set from MFT Stamps.
You can see the salt effect in the bottom flower in the above picture. The base is Blu Raspberry Card Stock from MFT. I do love this color and they have matching envelopes, too!
This was my grand-daughter's 25th birthday card. She is a blue lover so I thought she'd enjoy it and she did! The links are below if you are interested in any of the products I used today. Thanks for stopping by!

Taylored Expressions January Challenge #1

Taylored Expressions is one of my all time favorite stamp companies for their innovation and complete line of all stamping and crafting products. I plan to show many more of their great products in the future.

Their Facebook group, Fans of Taylored Expressions has a published monthly challenge for all of 2020. This is great so you can plan ahead if you participate in challenges!
For this card, I used masking and grey:
I can't say enough about TE's line of 6" X 6" masking stencils. They have ovals, squares, circles, rectangles, hearts and hexagons. For this card I used the squares. You have the positives and negatives to use with 2 different sizes. I used the small square piece (bottom left) for this card.
I adhered the square mask to my 4" X 5 1/4" Neenah 80 lb. white card base with a tiny bit of repositional adhesive. Then using my Wendy Vecchi Make art Stay-tion, I could easily hold down TE's Topsy Turvy stencil over it and ink blend 2 grays from Scrapbook.com's Hybrid line of ink with their foam ink blending tools. All of these tools make life so easy and your work comes out clean with no finger smudges.

I know it's hard to see the white square that was masked off, since I pretty much covered it up with Mr. & Mrs. Grumpling! They were stamped with Scrapbook.com Black Hybrid Ink onto Bristol Smooth Paper and water colored with my Zig Real Color Brush Markers. I used a silver gel pen too. I do have the matching die cuts to cut the images perfectly. Finally they were popped up with Scrapbook.com's round adhesives.
Funny, funny sentiment stamped onto the A2 sized card base made from WPlus9 Dove Grey card stock.
