I have really been enjoying the process for the Altenew Education Certification Program (AECP). This is my 8th class of the first 10: Scene Building by Nichol Magouirk (now Spohr):
You never realize how many variables there are in card making. The creativity is limitless! Nicole teaches 6 classes and what is so helpful with Altenew's Academy classes, you can go back and review and re-watch at any time. I probably watched these classes about 4 times each! I combined a couple of Nicole's ideas: creating a window and layering images.
I spent a really fun afternoon stamping and die cutting this set from Altenew called Indoor Garden:
For me, it's always such an enjoyable way to start the card making process. Stamp all the images in a variety of colors, die cut them all and then play with the pieces! Altenew has information on the back of the packaging which is so helpful to start with 2 and 3 step stamping.
I had in mind a window with shelving and decided to make a slimline card so that I had more "real estate". In thinking about the background, I looked through my 6 X 6 paper from Altenew called Essential Rock Collection. We have been watching quite a few HGTV shows lately on redoing old houses and striking wallpaper has been a theme. I saw this paper in the Rock Collection and knew it would be perfect. Since the inside "window" slimline image is 8 1/4 " by 3 1/4" I had to piece 2 pieces together and cover the seam with a "shelf".
The shelves are die cut from Altenew's Dotted Washi tape put onto a piece of white cardstock. The frame is from Trinity Stamps Frame and Fold Die Set. All fairly clean and simple. Some images are flat, some popped up. A few Trinity Stamps Crystal Clear embellishments added just a bit of sparkle! The inside sentiment is from Altenew's Smile More stamp set. Another new favorite, perfect for this time of Coronavirus.
Well, thank you for joining me on my AECP journey. Stay tuned, more to come!

Welcome
I am a wife of 48 years married to my best friend, Mike. He has always been my biggest supporter. We have 3 beautiful daughters and 2 wonderful grandchildren. Also, I am a college graduate, still working full time, and trying to squeeze in every crafting moment possible. Working with my hands, whether it is papercrafting, stamping, painting, cross-stitching, zentangling or quilting - brings joy to my life. I love color in all its various forms.
