I always love the CAS Christmas Challenge and was happy to participate this month with 2 cards! The theme is bells. If you've never made a CAS (Clean and Simple) card, there are specific rules:
CAS Definition
- minimal layers and embellishments
Sometimes, a CAS card is harder to make for you have to keep a simple design in mind, pleasing to the eye AND keep the card clean for you can't hide "boo-boos" with a lot of embellishments.
Of all my stamps, I could only find one set with a bell! But this is one of my favorite sets and I love to make cards by repeating small images. It is called Santa's Elves and is by My Favorite Things.
I stamped the bell repeatedly onto to Ranger Watercolor Paper. I wanted to use my Derwent Inktense watercolor pencils and wanted the paper to be a bright white. Ranger paper has a nice smooth side on which it easy to stamp images.
The sentiment came from Scrapbook.com Holly Jolly Sentiments - something for everyone!
One of my new favorite frame sets is from Sugar Pea Designs called Element Builder II. If you notice the tiny dots all around the edge of my card, it is from this set. It leaves such a clean and simple edge, perfect for any type of card, any gender.
The sentiment strip inside is from a set by Taylored Expressions called Simple Strips Christmas. If you have these strips, you need the matching die to go along with it. You stamp multiple sentiments at once and cut them out at one time. You simple line out the squares along the edges. I had 18 sentiments strips when finished and only used one on the inside. So I am ahead of the game for future cards!
I hope you enjoyed my CAS card. I'll have card #2 in my next blog post using almost all the same products. Thanks for visiting!
