Do you agree, friends? Should everyday be a beach day?!! Well, maybe not EVERY day...but this little hippo looks like he is having fun!
I wanted to participate in both the Sunday Stamps SSC235 Color Challenge and the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge 377 with my Clearly Whimsy Stamps Hippo Fun In The Sun. I just fell in love with these images and couldn't wait to work with them.
To begin I stamped all the images onto Ranger Watercolor paper with Altenew Obsidian Black Ink. Next, I cut them out with my Brother Scan 'n Cut before coloring. Normally, all images cut out perfectly with the Scan 'n Cut, but I have had a problem or two from time to time, so I'd rather it be before I color and not after.
I used my Derwent Inktense Watercolor pencils in green, blue and yellow with grey as the neutral. Couldn't decide if hippos should have painted toenails, but since he was a male, I thought not!
If you are a card maker you'll relate to this - I went through my large stash of colored 6" X 6" paper pads and choose colors from the challenge. I also used up some Stampin' Up! Brights card stock from my stash. Cut them out with my Kat Scrappiness Rectangle Dies and layered them up so they would be pleasing to the eye. The sentiment from Technique Junkies' Beach Day was placed across the bottom.
The inside was a simple sentiment from the stamp set with a 2nd generation stamped image of the sand pail. I few Trinity Stamps' Cave Crystals finished the card - I kind of thought they looked like bubbles.
Thanks for stopping by!
