I know, I know, another hippo card?! Yes, please! This little girl is so darling and just reminiscent of the Coppertone ad (for those of a certain age that remember it). Two challenges today: a sketch and Crazy 4 Challenges #543 color: turquoise, pink, peach & sand/gold.
Here is the stamp set that I've stamped on Ranger's Inkssential Water Color paper with Altenew's Obsidian Black Ink and watercolored with Derwent Inktense Watercolor pencils.
The scene is a piece of Bristol Smooth die cut with Kat Scrappiness' Embossed Edge Square Die. I love the clean edge it gives.
The clouds were ink blended with My Favorite Things' Cloud stencil and Distress Tumbled Glass Ink. The sand is Distress Oxide Vintage Photo and Wild Honey with some Vintage Photo splatter. The base is a kraft pre-made square card that I've had in my stash from Michaels.
I previously cut all the images from the stamp set cut out with my Brother Scan 'n Cut with the .4 white border. I glued the image flat to the card with liquid glue. I used a piece of fun foam, just a hair smaller, than the center square to pop up the entire image. I really like fun foam, for it is not as thick as my 3M foam tape and yet holds the card nice and flat in the mail.
The background is a piece from a 6 X 6 paper pad from My Favorite Things called Painted Prints Citrus. I very seldom use printed paper, so I am glad when I am able to use a bit from my stash. The sentiment is from My Favorite Things, Hey, Sunshine stamp set and the inside sentiment from their Sassy Pants Birthday Greeting 2 set. I love a good snarky sentiment!
I white heat embossed the sentiment on Black Licorice card stock from My Favorite Things. After it cooled, I cut it out with my Kat Scrappiness Stitched Sentiment Strips. The are really my new favorite. The have 5 sizes and cover just about every sentiment size I normally use. I also love a nice clean full border stitch line.
The easiest way to use them is to cut them in one pass on a piece of scrap card stock before you clip the dies apart. That way you just lay the negative window over your sentiment, line it up, set in the die (which has now been cut apart) and hold it steady with washi tape. Run it through your die cutting machine and you have a perfect sentiment-with stitched lines all around.
Fun, fun card and I had really enjoyed creating it. Be well, all, and wear those masks!

Welcome
I am a wife of 48 years married to my best friend, Mike. He has always been my biggest supporter. We have 3 beautiful daughters and 2 wonderful grandchildren. Also, I am a college graduate, still working full time, and trying to squeeze in every crafting moment possible. Working with my hands, whether it is papercrafting, stamping, painting, cross-stitching, zentangling or quilting - brings joy to my life. I love color in all its various forms.
