What a beautiful inspiration photo we have for the challenge today! Pink, greens and a pop of black are one of the most versatile combos. With all the images in the photos, the sky is the limit on what can be created. I am really looking forward to see what the other Design Team members create!
I wanted to use Simon Hurley's Flower Maker stencil to create my clean & layered card. The hibiscus flower stencil seemed perfect for the tropical vibe that I wanted. I had previously watched Simon's You Tube on how to use the stencil and it seemed easy enough. I made 2 cards overall and really enjoyed the process.
I used the smooth side of Ranger's Inkssential's Water Color Paper and various colored inks (shown below) to create a full panel of flowers and leaves. Using Scrapbook.com's Ink Blending Tools and post it notes I was easily able to blend in the color just where I wanted it.
I made 2 cards, this was my first card:
I considered it more or less a practice card, for there are a few mistakes. I decided to keep it anyway - I don't think many will notice my mistakes (at least I hope so).
The finishing touches are a black & white strip made with MFT's Bold Diagonal Stripes 6" X 6" stamp. I have plenty left over!
The sentiment is from Honey Bee Wishes Stamp & Die set.
The "Wishes" die has 3 pieces to it - the bubble dotted back which is solid, the second layer is a shadow background and then the word itself. I used vellum to cut the second layer only and a couple of layers of black card stock for the letters. The final layer was cut from a black metallic card stock I had in my stash. All stacked up for a nice sturdy sentiment.
I hope you find some inspiration in the Tropical Treats Challenge picture and join us. We'd love to see your work!
