Welcome friends! Class #3 Level 2 for my Altenew Education Certification Program called "With A Twist":
Therese Calvird has such a wonderful teaching style, if you haven't taken a class with her, I highly recommend it. The idea of the 6 classes was to learn some unique techniques, something unexpected. I used 3 of Therese's ideas here:
1) Make a card with a different shape;
2) Make a card with the juxtaposition of vintage and modern images;
3) Make a card using Faux Embossing.
I started with a round card base. Just let the top of your round die hang off the edge a bit when running through your die cutting machine. That part won't cut and will be the connector between the top and bottom. I used the second largest from the Hero Arts Nesting Circles Infinity Dies. If you buy this set, you'll never need another. Every size possible.
I had colored several of the background floral images from the Beautiful Day set with Altenew markers onto Spectrum Noir Ultra Smooth Premium Card Stock. It is the perfect paper for alcohol marker coloring. The ink flows and blends perfectly. When finished, I cut out all the images with the coordinating dies. These are my faux embossing pieces.
You can see the hinge at the top here:
I wanted something in the background to break up all the white space and the Geometric Landscape stamp was just perfect for that modern touch. I used Altenew Warm Sunshine Ink to bring in more of the yellow.
I played around a while until I found a pleasing design - 5 images - I always like an odd number! The very modern "Thank You" is from the Bold Greetings Die set:
I die cut the sentiments 3 times out of white card stock. I left one of the 3 die cuts in the card stock. Purple tape was place across the back of the letters (washi would work), so that I could color with the Altenew markers with an ombre effect. Once colored, all 3 were adhered together with liquid glue. Of course, I made 2 cards!
Made exactly the same way, but with blues.
Finished both sentiments with a good layer of my Spectrum Noir Sparkle marker. Such a fun class. I know I always say that, but it is fun to learn and try new things!

Welcome
I am a wife of 48 years married to my best friend, Mike. He has always been my biggest supporter. We have 3 beautiful daughters and 2 wonderful grandchildren. Also, I am a college graduate, still working full time, and trying to squeeze in every crafting moment possible. Working with my hands, whether it is papercrafting, stamping, painting, cross-stitching, zentangling or quilting - brings joy to my life. I love color in all its various forms.

Lovely projects! The colours on the second one are my favourite but I love both of them.
