I have been working on My Favorite Things Summer School and colored a number of these cute Harvest Mouse images (retired), so I thought I'd made a fall card with them. I had used Ranger's Inkssential Watercolor paper and my Derwent Inktense Watercolor pencils, definitely my favorite coloring medium now! I think the window idea is a great jumping off place.
I started by die cutting a window in the front of an A2 sized panel of white card stock using My Favorite Things Square Peek a Boo Die-namics.
Inside I used Taylored Expressions Masking Stencils Squares and Wendy Vecchi Make Art Stay-tion to mask off a window to match the size of the die cut window. Both tools make life so much easier in the craft room. I use the Make Art Stay-tion in almost every project I make, card making and decorative painting. It holds patterns down perfectly for tracing. The magnets are strong but they don't crash together. I have both the 7" and the 12" sizes and use them both frequently.
For the clouds I used My Favorite Things Cloud Stencil with the new Distress Oxide Speckled Egg color. First time I've had a chance to use this color. I think it made a perfect fall sky. The grass was Distress Oxide Peeled Paint. I use Lawn Fawn Liquid Stardust, not diluted, on an acrylic block and flicked spatters with a paint brush. I tried to capture the sparkle here:
The sentiment comes from My Favorite Things Sweater Weather on Safari set. I wanted something for the fall season, but not directly Thanksgiving.
I think the final result is so cute and also works for Day 5 of Summer School class: White Space. It's unfortunate that this set is retired, but I believe the same layout/design could work with many cute character images.
Thanks for sticking to the end and "I'm Thankful for Friends Like You"!

Welcome
I am a wife of 48 years married to my best friend, Mike. He has always been my biggest supporter. We have 3 beautiful daughters and 2 wonderful grandchildren. Also, I am a college graduate, still working full time, and trying to squeeze in every crafting moment possible. Working with my hands, whether it is papercrafting, stamping, painting, cross-stitching, zentangling or quilting - brings joy to my life. I love color in all its various forms.
