Last day of Summer School for My Favorite Things and then I graduate! It's really been fun to not only have design theory inspiration, but to use some of my neglected stamp and die sets from MFT. I am sorry to say this Harvest Mouse set is retired, but one of my favorites. The goal for today's card was to leave "White Space".
White space is something we all should strive for not only in the card panel, but also in coloring, especially floral images. It's something I've learned over the years in taking watercolor classes. The white space in an image is a highlight - a sparkle. If you color the same image, one while leaving white and one solid colored you'll see the difference.
That being said, I didn't leave much white in the images except for the bushels. With the Derwent Inktense watercolor pencils, I lay a line of color along the edge and then pull it with a damp brush. Doesn't leave much white - I need to practice that!
The front is clean and simple with plenty of white to rest the eye. I actually made 2 cards and the second card will be entered into Just Us Girls Challenge #548 to Die Cut with a Window:
Thanks for joining me today and here is my graduation banner. Got to add it my my blog!
