Hi Card Concept friends! Are you ready for the last challenge for Summer 2020? This Summer unfortunately will always be remembered for the Pandemic. As horrible as COVID 19 is, I think of this time as a period of slowing down, spending lots of time at home and discovering new ways to maneuver in the world. If you are so inclined and have the time, come join us for this challenge. There couldn't be a prettier, more inspirational picture:
As usual, I went quite literal, to create this Clean and Layered card. I used Bristol Smooth card stock because I knew I was going to be ink blending. The colors I used are from Simon Hurley's line, Scrapbook.com and Ranger Distress Ink. Purple doesn't always play well with yellow, so I was careful not to blend those 2 colors directly together.
The gold frame is from a Spellbinders June 2020 Large Die of the Month. It was die cut from gold card stock twice and adhered with liquid glue flat to the card front at a wonky angle.
To make the shells, I used Simon Hurley's Shell Maker Stencil & Mask:
This part was really fun. I stenciled several pages of all the shells and used all different purples, corals and yellow ink from my stash. Simon has several You Tube videos showing how to use his maker line of stencils and they are fun and creative! Of course, I used my Wendy Vecchi Make Art Stay-tion...a frequent tool in my craft room. Lastly, I ran all the stenciled pages through my Brother Scan 'n Cut and choose the 3 which I thought looked best.
The sentiment is from Picket Fence's Nautilus Shell Scene. I ordered it because I really liked the sentiment, but the stamp is on the smaller side and hard to read: "may you always have a shell in your pocket and sand in your toes"!
I finished with a few gold foil pearls from Studio Katia and layered the card unto a pale lavender base.
I hope you've enjoyed this walk in the purple sunset and get to see one in person soon! Thanks for visiting today and I hope you always have shell in your pocket and sand in your toes!

Welcome
I am a wife of 48 years married to my best friend, Mike. He has always been my biggest supporter. We have 3 beautiful daughters and 2 wonderful grandchildren. Also, I am a college graduate, still working full time, and trying to squeeze in every crafting moment possible. Working with my hands, whether it is papercrafting, stamping, painting, cross-stitching, zentangling or quilting - brings joy to my life. I love color in all its various forms.
