Hi friends and welcome to the 2nd Card Concept Challenge for September 2020: Fanciful Fall:
What a beautiful inspirational picture...where to start? The leaves, the colors, the designs? I went with all 3 and created a colorful Zentangled card with the Clean & Graphic Style:
What is Zentangle? As some of you may know, I have been a Decorative Painter for many years and have had the opportunity to take several Zentangle classes.
Here is how Google described as Zentangle:
"The Zentangle Method is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns. We call these patterns, tangles. You create tangles with combinations of dots, lines, simple curves, S-curves and orbs. These simple shapes are the "Elemental Strokes" in all Zentangle art."
Zentangle is so easy and can be done on paper, rocks, canvas, just about anything. We were taught to look around in your space and look at the designs which create the 3 dimensional item. For example, look at a tree, but really look at the shapes that are in the bark. Recreate them in a doodle. With a simple Micron Pen in Black, the sky is the limit! So much inspiration in the world!
Zentangle can be free form shapes, but I choose to use Altenew's Leaf Burst Stencil to create the base of colors. I simply ink blended many colors of Altenew's Crisp Dye Ink (see list below) on Bristol Smooth Card Stock using my Wendy Vecchi Make Art-Staytion.
Next, using a Micron pen I drew all different doodles, patterns or tangles inside the leaves. Since the leaves were small, I was limited in design, but I was happy with the overall pattern when finished.
The sentiment was created using my Spellbinders' Glimmer Hot Foil System and one of the Everyday Sentiment II with silver foil. I just love how clean these sentiments come out when foiled. I also created a 2nd card, but without Zentangle:
Hard to capture the rose gold foiled sentiment, but in real life it is stunning. This is Spellbinders' Effortless Sentiments Glimmer Hot Foil Plate & Die.
This was a fun challenge and I hope you play along with us. Give Zentangle a try...there are no mistakes...just fun doodling!

Welcome
I am a wife of 48 years married to my best friend, Mike. He has always been my biggest supporter. We have 3 beautiful daughters and 2 wonderful grandchildren. Also, I am a college graduate, still working full time, and trying to squeeze in every crafting moment possible. Working with my hands, whether it is papercrafting, stamping, painting, cross-stitching, zentangling or quilting - brings joy to my life. I love color in all its various forms.
