Who doesn't love a good snarky card, especially at Christmas? I wanted to play along with Three Room Studios and used some of my NBUS (Never Before Used Schtuff), so I am joining in with that challenge, too.
The Saturday Challenge #7 for Three Room Studio is to make a Clean and Simple card. What does that mean? A Clean and Simple (CAS) card has lots of white space and very little embellishments. To begin, I started with an embossing folder with a large speech bubble in the center called "Say It" from Spellbinders and a piece of 80 lb. Neenah Classic Crest Solar White card stock:
This embossing folder gives texture and interest in the background while still maintaining a CAS look. I have to let you know that Spellbinders is having an extra 15% of their clearance items through Oct. 25, 2020. That means this embossing folder is about $1.35. You can't go wrong with that!
But back to the card. I stamped a sentiment I have from So Suzy Stamps called Christmas Tree that I purchased a couple of years ago. I checked and it is still available! With this sentiment I thought the little elf from MFT's Santa's Elves set was perfect for this speech bubble.
The elf was stamped onto Ranger's Inkssential Water Color Paper on the smooth side with Altenew's Obsidian Black Ink. I colored the little guy with my Derwent Inktense Watercolor pencils. There are coordinating dies to cut out the images, too.
I ran 2 pieces of Altenew's gold washi tape on either side of the card stock just for a bit of interest.
The inside sentiment is from Scrapbook.com's Holly Jolly Sentiments which is definitely not NBUS. Used many, many times for there is a perfect sentiment for every holiday card in it:It was really fun to make this card. Sometimes CAS cards are hard, for you have to pull yourself back from adding too much. I felt that this card came together easily, based on the speech bubble embossing folder.
Thank you to NBUS and Three Room Studio for hosting this challenge. Three Room Studio is a new-to-me shop in Canada and has the most interesting shop and story of how they came to be. If you have a chance, check them out...https://www.threeroomstudio.com. Be well, friends!
What a great card, Anita! And that sentiment is hilarious! Thank you so much for playing along! :)
