Also playing along with NBUS (stencil, Distress Glaze):
When I saw this challenge I knew I wanted to use this new stencil from The Crafter's Workshop called City Buildings which I recently purchased:
Perfect for this challenge!
To begin, I taped a piece of Arteza Water Color Paper to an acrylic board with yellow painters tape. I totally wet the entire sheet with a large brush and sprinkled on Ken Oliver's Color Burst using: Ultramarine Blue, Lemon Yellow, Pthalo Green and a touch of Yellow Ochre. These color bursts are so fun to watch and see how they move across the paper.
This is really one of my favorite techniques - to start with a full sheet of watercolor paper and create from there. I cut the paper into 6" X 6" pieces - the size of the stencil.
I wanted to stencil Altenew's Embossing Paste through the stencil onto the watercolor paper. I used my Waffle Flower Media Mat over my Wendy Vecchi Make Art Stay-tion. This may sound weird, but using the magnets from the Make Art Stay-tion it holds everything down and is so easy to clean up. I actually ended up creating this piece twice.
The first time I forgot the color would be re-wetted and then the color would dye the white paste. I wanted the paste to be a bright white to stand out against the colored background. Then, I remembered that I had Tim Holtz's Distress Micro Glaze, a water resistant sealer for craft projects.
You rub the Glaze over the watercolor paper with your finger. Next, buff it with a paper towel. After that I let it sit overnight and then re-stenciled with the Altenew Embossing Paste...no bleed through!
The sentiment is from Altenew's Crafty Life stamped in Altenew's Starlight Crisp Dye Ink and then quickly sprinkled with Nuvo Crystal Clear Embossing Powder and heat set. You can always heat emboss a dye ink with clear embossing powder instead of having multiple jars of colored embossing powder. I die cut it out with Fun Stampers Journey Ovals Die Set and popped it up with foam tape.

Welcome
I am a wife of 48 years married to my best friend, Mike. He has always been my biggest supporter. We have 3 beautiful daughters and 2 wonderful grandchildren. Also, I am a college graduate, still working full time, and trying to squeeze in every crafting moment possible. Working with my hands, whether it is papercrafting, stamping, painting, cross-stitching, zentangling or quilting - brings joy to my life. I love color in all its various forms.
