Hi friends, welcome to my blog post for Addicted to CAS and Mod Squad Challenge:
The challenge is called Fly Away and is to use a focal image with wings.
To make my Valentine's Day card, I used a cute little bird from Tim Holtz's Bird Crazy and the hearts from Tim's Crazy Things stamp set. I stamped the images onto Ranger Watercolor Paper with Altenew's Obsidian Black Ink and quickly sprinkled Nuvo Clear Embossing Powder over it and heat set. This gave me the ability to watercolor using Altenew's 24 Pan Watercolor Set.
The card base is Neenah Classic Crest Solar White in 100 lb. weight. This is my go-to card stock for a good sturdy card base. The front is ink blended with Distress Oxides - Peacock Feathers and Broken China. I find that Distress Oxides blend better on Neenah.
I sprinkled a few drops of water onto the ink let it sit for about 30 seconds. Then, I blotted with a paper towel. Since Neenah is not a watercolor paper you don't want to use too much water.
All the images were die cut with their corresponding die and the bird was popped up on the card front with FSJ foam square. The inside sentiment is from Tim Holtz's Crazy Talk. Crazy Talk has so many perfect sentiments in such a great font.
That's it for the challenges - a little heat embossing, water coloring, ink blending and splattering for my Clean and Simple card with wings! Thank you for joining me and thank you to Addicted to CAS and Mod Squad Challenge for hosting.

Welcome
I am a wife of 48 years married to my best friend, Mike. He has always been my biggest supporter. We have 3 beautiful daughters and 2 wonderful grandchildren. Also, I am a college graduate, still working full time, and trying to squeeze in every crafting moment possible. Working with my hands, whether it is papercrafting, stamping, painting, cross-stitching, zentangling or quilting - brings joy to my life. I love color in all its various forms.
