Welcome to my Design Team card post for The Card Concept #149 Welcome Wee One! I was inspired by the gorgeous colors and the stripes in the towels to create my Clean and Layered card.
This was such a fun technique I made a total of 6 cards and still have leftovers for more! I started with my Pinkfresh Studio Essential Collection Dies Slimline Stripes:
There are 3 sets of different sized stripe dies in this collection. I used card stock from my stash inspired by the photo to die cut the stripes. Basically all from My Favorite Things, but a few have been discontinued: White, Black, Teal and 2 shades of Coral.
There are several ways to make a striped background. I used thin copy paper and covered it with adhesive tape runner. Then I simply laid the colored stripes onto the paper, gently snugging them together to create a panel. I did cut this down to 4" X 5 1/4". Next, I ran this through the Big Shot with an embossing folder. I used one from my stash: Kaisercraft Leaves, but of course you could use all sorts of embossing folder designs for this. I adhered this panel to a 100lb. Neenah Classic Crest Solar White base with double sided adhesive.
For those of you that have the Spellbinders' Glimmer Hot Foil System, as I do, I didn't realize other companies had glimmer plates. I do love Spellbinders, but when I saw The Stamp Market's clean and graphic designed plates, I wanted to give them a try. They have the word which is a hot foil plate and also the outline. You can use the outline to cut out the hot foil design or just any piece of card stock. This set is called Say Hello Foil Plate and Die and has the words: Hello and Hi in a beautiful font. They worked beautifully and I love the focal point it gives to the card front.
For this card I used Glimmer Hot Foil in Black to create the glimmered sentiment. Then I simply cut it out with the outline die and popped it up with foam squares. I like the Fun Stamper Journey's foam squares for they are not too high, easy to cut into slices and once placed, can be moved around, if necessary, until you give them a good press down.
Here are a few other cards I made with this striped background. I have separate blog post for this one:
This one uses the outline die "hello" from the same Stamp Market Glimmer set, so it can be used in several ways:
Easy to use with a simple silhouette die cut:
This one uses the outline die "hi" from the same Stamp Market Glimmer set, so again it can be used in multiple ways:
Diagonal stripes for this CAS card:
I hope you've enjoyed my post, are inspired to enter our challenge over at The Card Concept. We look forward to seeing how you were inspired!

Welcome
I am a wife of 48 years married to my best friend, Mike. He has always been my biggest supporter. We have 3 beautiful daughters and 2 wonderful grandchildren. Also, I am a college graduate, still working full time, and trying to squeeze in every crafting moment possible. Working with my hands, whether it is papercrafting, stamping, painting, cross-stitching, zentangling or quilting - brings joy to my life. I love color in all its various forms.
