Hi crafty friends and welcome to Tuesday: Digi Choosday over at Polkadoodles! The Design Team challenge today was to make something Christmas inspired but it must be anything but a card.
I have several of these thick frames cover with printed paper which I purchased at Michaels on a closeout years ago. I thought I would make a seasonal wreath on it, in a mixed media style. I started with Polkadoodles' Paper Heaven 3 from the Work & Play 10 Collection (#bp-18) (the one on the far left):
I felt that it most look like wood. I printed the paper on my inkjet printer and adhered with Ranger Multi Medium Matte to the top of the home decor frame.
I did brush the edges with Liquitex Acrylic Gesso paint and splattered with watered down Gesso. I like to use Tim Holtz's Distress Splatter Brush in his Splat box for watered down paints.
I also gave it a good splattering with Dina Wakley Media White Gloss, as well. It is a spray, but I pull out the nozzle and tap it for some nice drops of white.
To create the wreath, I started with Polkadoodles' Winnie Winterland Digis Digital Craft Papers Download:
I pulled in several of the leaf and poinsettia images into a Word.doc and resized and flipped for a variation of sizes. Next I printed some onto Ranger Watercolor Paper and some onto white cardstock with my Brother laser printer. I cut them all with my Brother Scan 'n Cut and had a nice pile to watercolor. I used my favorites from The Stamp Market Color Crush Set and Altenew's 24 Half Pan Watercolor Set.
Then the fun began: just played around with the layout and kept adding more and more...some popped up with foam squares...some flat.
I am not picking up the sparkle too well on the pictures, but with all the added bling it really does sparkle!
Amazing the things you can create with digital images and so inexpensively! If you buy your Polkadoodles' digital products on a Tuesday there is always a sale - usually around 35% discount. How great is that! That's when I pick up the bundles for there are a ton of products in each bundle....Enjoy!
I will be submitting my work to the following challenges:

Welcome
I am a wife of 48 years married to my best friend, Mike. He has always been my biggest supporter. We have 3 beautiful daughters and 2 wonderful grandchildren. Also, I am a college graduate, still working full time, and trying to squeeze in every crafting moment possible. Working with my hands, whether it is papercrafting, stamping, painting, cross-stitching, zentangling or quilting - brings joy to my life. I love color in all its various forms.
