Welcome to Paper Funday Challenge for May 2022! One of our amazing sponsors this month is Dr. Digi. This company from the UK has the most unique and startling images which are so fun, too! I couldn't resist Comfy Caterpillar for a "Alice in Wonderland" play in my Art Journal.
I began as I usually do for an art journal by cutting an 8" X 8" piece of Vicki Boutin's American Craft All the Good Things Foundations Mixed Media Art Paper. It really holds hope to everything that you can throw at it for an art journal page.
I wanted a blue/lilac theme for my caterpillar and began by ink blending 3 Scrapbook.com's Hybrid Inks onto my page: Sky Blue, Glass Slipper and Parisian Purple. I used a numbers & letters stencil from my stash that was just the right size, too.
Now it gets harder to tell you what I've done because you just play and see what you get. I stamped with Ranger's Black Archival Ink and the same Scrapbook.com colors used in the background all kinds of circles, dots and text. Over this I used a stencil from The Crafters Workshop called Mini Time Travel with clocks and numbers, keeping in the Alice in Wonderland theme..."I'm Late, I'm Late, etc." with Lawn Fawn Gold Stencil Paste.
I gave it a good splattering with sapphire blue and white acrylic paint and let dry thoroughly. In the meantime I had printed with my Brother Laser Printer onto Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor Paper the Comfy Caterpillar image. Watercolored and fussy cut it out so that it could be my focal point. I did add text stamping onto it so that it would stay coordinated with the background.
The sentiment was cut from Lawn Fawn Black Licorice Card Stock using Scrapbook.com Alphabet Dies - Classic Type.
I used Faber-Castell Pitt Big Brush Pens (retired) to add depth around the image and sentiments and tried to make it look like our Caterpillar was blowing smoky words out of his mouth! A little white gel pen and almost done. One more step was to punch with my Happy Planner the left edge so that I can fit it together with my other pages using the Happy Planner Discs.
I will also be submitting to NBUS because I've never used this digi image or stencils before:

Welcome
I am a wife of 48 years married to my best friend, Mike. He has always been my biggest supporter. We have 3 beautiful daughters and 2 wonderful grandchildren. Also, I am a college graduate, still working full time, and trying to squeeze in every crafting moment possible. Working with my hands, whether it is papercrafting, stamping, painting, cross-stitching, zentangling or quilting - brings joy to my life. I love color in all its various forms.
