Ready to Party?!!! A Colorful Life Designs (ACLD) has a unique stencil called Streamers which was my inspiration for today's card.
Here is a snapshot of the stencil from Mary Kay's website:
This blog is part of my Guest Designer Series for ACLD for May 2022. I want to thank Mary Kay for inviting me!
Looking at this stencil, I just had to ink blend a colorful background for the party!
Here are my "go-to" tools for ink blending:
-Scrapbook.com Ink Blending Tools with Dome Foam Applicators or Ranger Ink's Mini Ink Blending Tools with their Domed Replacement Foam.
Why do I prefer these tools? Bristol Smooth ink blends just as the title describes - very smoothly. Very easy to get a good blend. The domed foam blending applicators get a good saturation after using for a while and then they are just perfect for ink blending. I find the Brush Blending tools too light and I have to color and color to get the saturation I like. Tiring.
The colorful Distress Inks I used to create the stencil background are as follows starting from the left: Candied Apple, Picked Raspberry, Mustard Seed, Peacock Feathers and Wilted Violet. I did use Pixie Spray on the back of the stencil, so the the "streamers" would adhere and not be damaged while ink blending. To finish the background I splattered with Dina Wakley's Media White Gloss Spray. I don't spray but just take out the nozzle and tap.
The partying doggy is from Pink and Main's Party Animal Stamp Set with matching die. He was stamped in Altenew's Obsidian Black Pigment Ink and sprinkled with Altenew's Crisp Clear Embossing Powder while wet and then heat set. I watercolored with my Daniel Smith Watercolor 238 Dot Set. I love this set - lots of browns to choose from for the animals.
If I can, I spring for the matching die - look how the confetti from this dog image is all cut around. I could never do that fuzzy cutting and I am sure My Scan 'n Cut would just cut them off!
The sentiment is from Sizzix's Thinlits Die Set 4PK - Party Phrases. As of this writing it is on sale for $6.00 and make a great sentiment(s) across a card panel. I adhered 2 layers cut from Lawn Fawn's Black Licorice Cardstock for a nice thick sentiment. A few of Honey Bee's Small Clear Dew Drops and this card is done!
I hope you enjoy my colorful card today and check out A Colorful Life Design's Stencil. Tons and tons of stencils and each one starts the creative wheels turning!

Welcome
I am a wife of 48 years married to my best friend, Mike. He has always been my biggest supporter. We have 3 beautiful daughters and 2 wonderful grandchildren. Also, I am a college graduate, still working full time, and trying to squeeze in every crafting moment possible. Working with my hands, whether it is papercrafting, stamping, painting, cross-stitching, zentangling or quilting - brings joy to my life. I love color in all its various forms.
