Outerspace with A Colorful Life Designs

When I saw A Colorful Life Design's stencil called Bubble Rays all I could think of was a galaxy far, far away!
Such a cool, unique stencil to create a galaxy background. 2 of the cards I made are clearly with this Bubble Rays stencil and the third card it too, but so subtle, it's hard to pick up in the picture. The third one was created with spritz of water, so it just left a grey hint in the background. I thought I'd still show it.
The cards were created on Canson XL Watercolor Paper with Distress Inks: Picked Raspberry, Twisted Citron, Mustard Seed, Blueprint Sketch, Villainous Potion and lastly Black Soot. I adhered the Bubble Rays stencil down with Pixie Spray to keep all of the stencil nicely held down while I ink blended the colors. I always use my Wendy Vecchi Make Art Stay-tion when using a stencil. I lay piece of scrap paper under the card stock and stencil so that I can dab off color.
Each color was ink blended in about 3 different areas and lastly Black Soot was used over the background, but allowing the colors to show through.
The spaceship and aliens came from Brutus Monroe's Space Flight Cutting Dies. It's retiring, but as of this post on sale for $5.00! If you follow me, you know I make cards for my daughter's shop at The Cotton Company in Wake Forest, NC called The Toadstool Shoppe. It's fun because I am not limited and get to make all kinds of cards!
Using this die set was so unique for me...I got to use tons of scraps and first cut all pieces out of various colors. I kept them in Spellbinders' Egg Crates I use to sort die cuts until I was ready to carry them downstairs and put them together while watching TV with the family. Right now these crates are $2.39...for me they really come in handy - easy to carry and very lightweight:
For the stars I used a good splatter of Perfect Pearls Pigment Powder in Confetti White and Dina Wakley Media White Gloss Spray. I also splattered gold watercolor paint from Gansai Tambi Starry Colors. All makes for a star-filled sky!

The sentiments are from Honey Bee Stamps: Stellar Sentiments, sadly retiring.
I added Clear Wink of Stella to the white bubbles for some shine:
Here are the inside sentiments:
Finally, a look at all three cards using Bubble Rays from A Colorful Life Designs:

  2. What fun and adorable cards. The bubble rays stencil is so interesting. However, I didn't see a galaxy until you made it so! Thanks for joining us at Happy Little Stampers ~ Stencil Challenge.
