Hello friends and I am glad you could join me here! If you follow me you know I was Guest Designer for A Colorful Life Designs in May 2022. Mary Kay DelaFuente is the owner, designer and operator of this unique and creative business. At the end of May I was invited to be on the Design Team for A Colorful Life Designs and am very excited for this opportunity! So if you enjoy working with stencils, stay tuned!!!
Today I have for 3 Patriotic Cards I made using A Colorful Life Designs' stencil called Sparkle Banner, part of June 2022 new release:
My grandson is very close to his cousin who is graduating from Paris Island Marines' boot camp in a couple of weeks. I wanted to make a card for him and this Sparkle Banner Stencil was perfect:
I first used Lawn Fawn's Stencil Paste Gold through the stars of the stencil onto a panel of white card stock. I taped off the stripes so that only the stars were gold.
After they thoroughly dried, I ink blended using Scrapbook.com's Foam Blending Tools Ranger Ink's Distress Ink Candied Apple through the striped portion. (Note: I did use Pixie Spray on the back of the Sparkle Banner stencil.) Once dried, I had 3 nice panels with which to work.
I die cut the word "MARINES", twice, from Lawn Fawn Black Licorice Card Stock using Sizzix's AlphaNumeric Bold by Tim Holtz. Stacked them up for a bit thicker sentiment.
The dies cuts for these 3 cards all come from Whimsy Stamps Military Die Cuts. I used gold and silver mirror cardstock - silver for the dog tags and gold for everything else. The larger stars were cut from the left over pieces of the stenciled panel layered with gold mirror cardstock stars behind.
The sentiments come from its coordinating set of stamps by Whimsy Stamps called Military Family Clear Stamps. Such great sentiments.
My husband was a Marine during the Vietnam War and to me is a real hero. These cards were a pleasure to make for this young man beginning his military life.

Welcome
I am a wife of 48 years married to my best friend, Mike. He has always been my biggest supporter. We have 3 beautiful daughters and 2 wonderful grandchildren. Also, I am a college graduate, still working full time, and trying to squeeze in every crafting moment possible. Working with my hands, whether it is papercrafting, stamping, painting, cross-stitching, zentangling or quilting - brings joy to my life. I love color in all its various forms.

DeleteSorry Anita, I seem to have missed this card along the way and it is so bright and beautiful using this great stencil and love the red, gold and black colour combination and the gold paste looks fabulous on the stars and the perfect card for this young man graduating into the Marines, in fact we have a Marine's camp not very far from where we live. Congratulations on joining the DT of A Colourful Life Designs, and thank you for joining in with the NBUS Challenge this month.
